For the ocean, from the beginning
We knew we wanted to start a business that could give back to the ocean. And we knew we liked gin. So in 2020, we started experimenting in our kitchen, diving into the science of distillation and gin’s nautical history. We were inspired to play with flavors that have a deep connection to the sea—like sugar kelp, allspice, and ginger.
Getting the recipe right took longer than planned. A lot longer. But the next part came easy: partnering with Force Blue.
Giving warriors a cause. Giving a cause its warriors.
Force Blue has come up with a brilliant solution to two big problems:
- Ocean habitats that need to be studied and cared for by highly trained divers
- Highly trained divers who retire from the armed forces and struggle with what’s next
Force Blue recruits retired combat divers and retrains them to conduct critical conservation work alongside marine scientists. Force Blue calls it “mission therapy.” These missions run the gamut, from capturing and treating sick sea turtles to providing emergency reef restoration in the wake of hurricane damage.
